We are honored & proud to announce that New York's Barbaric-Romantic Epic Metal Madmen: VIRGIN STEELE, have just signed a new recording contract with the Hanover, Germany based label SPV RECORDS. “This new deal took awhile to finalize, as we had received several very nice offers along the way from various labels, but in the end, the great dedication and commitment to our genre and the understanding of what VIRGIN STEELE is really all about, convinced us that this was the home for the band", said the Group’s vocalist David DeFeis. DeFeis continued, "In a way, we have actually come full circle, because when Noble Savage came out, it was in fact released on Steamhammer SPV, so it is a kind of homecoming for us. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with SPV, and in fact we are planning on issuing the new album this coming Autumn. BY THE GODS... there is a ton of work to do"!
LOUD "CHEERS", & a Royal Thanks and many rounds of drinks go out to Olly Hahn, Andreas Rennmann, Olaf Meinking, Frank Uhle, George Schroder, and all at SPV RECORDS.

It should be an amazing, exciting experience for all involved! This will also be the first ever performance of the Group in a South American Country! We have done many concerts in the past with MANOWAR, and it has always been a great Honour for us to participate in their events, and partake of an always unique and Magickal Metal Experience! David DeFeis shares his thoughts on the passing of Ronnie James Dio
"In what has already been a sad Spring Season, I was further saddened on Sunday to hear that Ronnie James Dio passed away...
I always thought that if anyone could...he would be the one...to live forever...

I had the good fortune to meet Ronnie several times, and share wine and wonderful conversations with him. He was a truly Gracious, Noble man, with an outstanding voice and major talent as a composer & lyricist.

Ronnie always made me feel very warm, welcome and wanted in his presence. I was introduced to him by my good friend and longtime VIRGIN STEELE Photographer Gail Flug. Gail had known Ronnie for many years, and one evening when we were at a "DIO" gig, she said "hey Ronnie I want you to meet my friend David", and I began to say, "hi Ronnie it's so very nice to meet you, I am a huge fan of your Work, my name is David etc, etc,..., and he looked me straight in the eye and said..."I know who you are my son"...That totally floored me. I have met many musicians over the years from all walks of life, some who have achieved huge success, some just starting out, and everything in between, and you know, many of the ones who I have come across who possessed not an ounce of the talent, or achievements of a Ronnie James Dio, often wouldn't even give me the time of day, and then... here was this amazing man, who has accomplished so much in Music & in Life, so graciously acknowledging me, & validating my accomplishments. This to me was...incredibly moving and oh so very special. I'll never forget that, or my talks with him about Music, History, and the Way The World turns...

Seeing him perform with Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Heaven & Hell throughout the years was always an extraordinary treat. I personally think that Ronnie was one of the best vocalists to ever grace a stage or studio. His voice had so much power, and expressive feeling and was always so incredibly musical. I will miss his Dramatic, Metal Music, his God-like vocals and enchanting stage presence...but I know that his Legacy, his Kindness and Understanding, and the Music he created will live on...and on..." -- David DeFeis

Gail Flug, who also updates this site, wished to add her thoughts on Ronnie, which was originally posted on her facebook page:

“I can’t remember the first time I met Ronnie; maybe 1985, when I was working as the Metal Editor at CMJ. Word got through to his office that I owned one of those early singles from his ‘crooning’ days, so when I asked him to sign it he took me into a private room, signed it ‘why me’ and said if I played it for anyone he would ‘hunt me down and kill me’. (In the days before the Internet, his past and his age were kept guarded, and to this day I keep it safe and tucked away in my collection.) Of course, a joke, but this was the first of countless chats, interviews and time spent with him through my jobs in journalism and radio. Everything you heard about him is true – a genuine guy whose heart was just as big as his voice. The fact that I’m shorter than him was always a means for a laugh. I mourn him not just for creating music which enriched my life, but for the man who played a major role in my life personally as well as professionally. I am still numb, but comforted that the last time I saw him, I hugged him goodbye, told him I loved him and he responded the same.”
